Should I re-use plastic water bottles?

Nutrition and wellness consultant Alison Jones answers.

The short answer to this one is absolutely not. You may think that you are being kind to the environment by doing this; however, what you are doing to your body by doing this can be much worse. Popular studies have shown that dangerous amounts of bacteria build up on the insides of the bottle as you keep re- using it. My suggestion is to use glass bottles to store your water in the fridge and re-cycle the plastic bottles through re-cycling programs that are in your area. This helps you two-fold – you are being kind to the environment by recycling and being very kind to your body at the same time. What a win win situation.
