Facts about mouth ulcers

Around 75% of us are likely to suffer from mouth ulcers at some point in our lives.

Ulcers are usually caused by a minor  injury, such as biting the cheek or irritation from braces or dentures. Some people have recurring ulcers, which usually first appear in childhood and adolescence.

Allergies and common viruses can also be a trigger.

Most mouth ulcers are not due to serious illness and usually clear up without treatment.

However, if they don’t heal within two to three weeks, consult your doctor or dentist.
