Wash 'n wear – SKIP washing powder dresses (yes, this is for real)

Just in – a novel promotional tool that beats most marketing drives hands down and pulls in fashionable eco-friendliness and the recycling trend too.

SKIP, one of South Africa’s most well-known brands of washing powder, recently teamed up with local designer Heath Nash to create stylish dresses out of – yes, you guessed it – empty washing powder packets.

The brand’s black and white plastic washing powder bags look rather stylish, no?

The award-winning designer has been recycling plastic into practical items such as lamps and chairs for several years, and has exhibited and been commissioned locally and internationally.

The detergent brand used the unique marketing idea to promote their new ranges – SKIP black and SKIP Perfect White.

Heath admits that his project for SKIP took him in a whole new direction. “I’d never created dresses from recycled materials prior to this,” he says, “although I have done a bit of costume design using thick foam and fabric.”
